How to render new particles using old POP render properties?

Hi,

 

The old POPs allowed you to set render attributes like part_type, part_size, etc which are intrinsic primitive attributes but in the new POPs there are no primitives only points. The old POPs created a Particle System primitive so these primitive attributes made sense, but in the new POPs, how do we specify these attributes to render particles as lines, etc?
