I'm going to do a little advertising for fxphd, because I seldom see anyone posting about the courses they have on offer. This term they're offering two courses so you could pick a two-course membership and take the Houdini courses only if you want to.

To the point:

Fxphd is offering two Houdini courses this April term. HOU210 and HOU211.

Orientation week video:

http://www.fxphd.com/news/april-2014-term-now-open/ (Houdini courses at 17:56 in the video)

HOU210 is a 200-level course on cloth and wires. It is taught by Andrew Lowell.

Showreel:

"Through this course, we will explore FX relevant wire and cloth scenarios such as simulating trees, flags, and a complex metal destruction setup. Fundamental Houdini workflows such as attributes, transform matrix manipulation, and basic rbd and particle destruction will be enhanced with Houdini's simple and robust wire system as well as it's new, fast and very powerful cloth system."

HOU211 is a 200-level course on Ocean Effects. This course is taught by Nick Nimble, I'm sure many of you know him here on odforce.

Showreel:

"This course covers the Ocean FX tools, how they work and gives an insight in when to use the right tool. The majority of the course covers a project where we create a full CG shot of a boat on a rough sea. In the process we will use quite a few advanced techniques which we will tackle step by step. This is a course aimed at those who feel comfortable in Houdini but are looking to extend their skills."

Obviously there's more to the membership than just the courses you pick, for example a TON of VPN software and background fundamentals (BKD) course included with your membership.

Head to http://www.fxphd.com to find out more.

Edit: If you want to you can use me as your referring member. Same username on fxphd as I have here on odforce (JonathanGranskg).

They sound great, I have been a big fan of FXPHD.  It doesn't hurt that getting all the software licences you could ever need.

Exactly, I'm glad that they have SpeedTree back on the VPN. It's so fun to play around with and works great with Houdini.

And you can also use external renderers with FXPHD's Houdini FX license.

Hail to Andrew Lowell, Nice to see another course from the Master!!!

Oh yes, Andrew is amazing.

Apparently FXPHD is also offering HOU209, which ran last term, this term too. I took it myself and I enjoyed it a lot. :) I haven't seen a term before with this many houdini courses on offer so take your chance and pick a term with three houdini courses if you want. Assuming that you didn't take HOU209 last term of course. B)

I hope they do offer 209 again.   I noticed it up a couple weeks prior to the course ending and it was way to late for me to register.   It was the first houdini course I missed, and the one I wanted the most.

They are offering it this term. Seems like it was a screw-up on their part. It was in the preview courses section at the start of the term, but not visible in the Our Courses section nor in the forums. It looks like they've fixed it now. :)
