Niice :) thanks Anim !!

you can search the forums for toon shading to learn more how it can be done in Houdini

or this tutorial may be useful

https://cmivfx.com/store/571-houdini+cartoon+effect

as it has references directly to Junichi Akimoto, the author of the video you posted

Hi

i Dont have the tutorial :( and i looked for idea in forums and not found it , im looking specially for the motion blur look in cartoon style

Jeff have made a post with a toon shader example (very simple). maybe that can help you a bit.

in this tutorial from ari denish he used in the last example the wren render in combination with the compositing nodes:

http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2216&Itemid=361

i think the cmivfx video should be pretty good but if you can't get it the only way would be to learn more on vex shadeing and compositing.

just for information in the new blender release there is a toon render build in. but also there you have to learn the concept.

or just search for a tutorial for another software and analyse the concept and adapt it to houdini. (it's the hard way)

well my knowledge is very limited with vex so i can't give you a finished solution that works... but the rough way is shown in the video how it's done.

1. paint for selection of the area (maybe custom group)

2. scatter for creating points

3. some vop sop here

4. emit particle from the area where you selected.

5. create lines

6. create a custom shader

something like that will it be. look at the video tutorials from ari danesh

maybe this one helps: http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2635&Itemid=389
