hoknamahn
Hi all! Can Mantra call a shader several times when she is doing a motion blur? I mean if the surface color is changing in time from red to green I want to see a motion blur with gradient from red to green. I know it's impossible with RenderMan. Maybe Mantra is more clever? But I made some tests and see that Mantra calls a surface shader once I'm right? And what about animated displacement? P.S. Picture rendered with MentalRay. We can see a motion blur with gradient from blue to violet. http://www.puppet.cgtalk.ru/mb.jpg
Jason
Nope, mantra renders one sample and smears it. It can be potentially disastrously intensive for a renderer to execute the shader at every time sample. However, a deeply hidden switch to do this would be great; and we've wanted it occaisionally.
