jetlag5
Does anyone have any resources for good Finite Elements Tutorials? The only thing I can really find is the Houdini Master Class, and that didn't really go into depth on how to manipulate and use FEM. I just want to toy around with it, but I need to get my bearings in it first.

kleer001
+1 I want to know more about what makes FEM breaks, other caveats, ways to speed up workflow and optimize meshes.

Guest tar
Not a tutorial but the MIT course looks like nice, if it's your cup of tea! Lec 1 | MIT Finite Element Procedures for Solids and Structures, Linear Analysis
dpap
Thanks Marty for your reply. Although I have to I admit that I don't have any plans on making my own custom FEM solver , it was interesting to have look under the hood. Good news is I found this: http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2664&Itemid=344 It has sample files as well. michael
not a 1:1 reference but I've found this to be informative http://www.pixelux.com/support.html
Guest tar
Yup - this is the theoretical part, whilst the tutorials are the practical side. The great thing is whilst most people in the industry have the practical side, the theoretical part is left out. Nice way to get ahead in the long run Although I have to I admit that I don't have any plans on making my own custom FEM solver , it was interesting to have look under the hood.
