slayerk
You absolutely right. Saving to another scene is needed to continue working and not affect renderfarm results. Using $HIPNAME in render path is bad idea (I think so).
cgcris
render path is bad idea Really? it's super handy when doing RND, and it general a great way of knowing where a specific render came from.. I've used this method in several studios, never had a problem before. Out of curiosity how do you then track your scenes down if not using HIPNAME? In this case you absolutely can determine from which scene you get render )) profit! No problem here Edited April 13, 2016 by slayerk
cgcris
One other thing little request. When the job is on the farm, you should be able to right click on the task and.... Job Output > View output > Sequence.exr If you click on Sequence.exr you are then able to play the sequence in your preferred player (RV, DJV) It is my understanding that the submitter script must specify a job output file so that you can see this option. sessionbeer
This used to work great but I don't think it likes Deadline8? My Executable is located here: C:/Program Files/Thinkbox/Deadline8/bin/deadlinecommand.exe But when I try to render it says "Please point to the correct deadlinecommand.exe" Any chance this could be updated? It's been really useful.
slayerk
Check this. Upload to orbolt also, but approving procedure spent some time. houdini2deadline_v02.hda Edited September 27, 2016 by slayerk add new version of asset
sessionbeer
Thanks for the update Slayerk, deadlinecommand.exe now picks up, but unfortunately when I submit it looks like something goes wrong:
slayerk
oh, this is aftermath of my deadline customisations. nativly deadline doesn't support minor versions of Houdini like "15.5". only round version numbers supported. I'm edit some deadline config files in (see screenshots) %DEALINE_REPOSITORY%/plugins/Houdini: Houdini.param Houdini.dlinit second file (Houdini.dlinit) you may edit from deadline super user mode. Now i'm use version 7 of dedline and cannot normally tested version 8.
