fresnel/refraction pass VS rendering refraction(beauty pass) in Houdin

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Will using a fresnel/refraction pass and using this in compositing, be faster than rendering the refraction in my beauty pass?  My thought is yes, plus I will be able to control just how strong the refraction is in comp(nuke).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

What does the empirical evidence say? i.e. run a test

Can't think of a reason why it would be a different speed, as reflection/refraction should be simply using maths addition to add to the other passes.
