Atom
Hi All, I really don't have any need for Unity as a game engine, but I am wondering if it can simply output GAME quality frames at high speed, like a render engine? Can Unity render Houdini frames via Engine?
acey195
Yes and no, technically you are not supposed to use Houdini Engine as a realtime solution, as it will not work when built in Unity as a stand alone application. But practically, this DOES work in the Unity Editor environment. You will still have to link up the game state to press a hypothetical render button each frame. That said, I do not know if you will get a real time output that way with Mantra (you may be able to do it with openGL maybe) Finally, Unity has built in screenshot (with supersizing) capability, that will most likely outperform the Houdini rendering.
