dark_cry
Hi all, Is there any way to glue active objects to non active deforming object? I tried to update glue position every frame so that it could stick to passive object, but looks like it doesn't work. Attaching hip to be clear Cheers, A glueToDeform.hipnc
rayman
Glue won't change positions - it just represents connections between pieces. Use hard constraint instead. You still need to update positions/rotations.
Farmfield
Here's a great 1h breakdown on using constraints in Houdini from Escape Studios. You'll need to register, but the webinar is free. http://learning.escapestudios.com/player/c/RCQfPcC8ToppF9d/n/ppf5s21i5nqstnx/a/quwpso183vuqdq7

oblong
That link does not discuss the issue at all. He does not try to glue an active object to a non active deforming ( or a static ) object. I am re looking into this now myself and surprised to find that there is still no obvious solution and sesi offers no examples.
Mzigaib
Any updates on this issue? I also would like to know a way to constraint active objects on non active deforming objects.
mestela
Looking at the original scene, the problem was it was freezing time for all the cubes before creating the constraints. I split off the animated cube from the freeze, and extended the search radius for the connect adjacent pieces, the bottom cube drags the rest and makes them topple over. I put some notes on making constraint networks here: http://www.tokeru.com/cgwiki/index.php?title=ConstraintNetworks glueToDeform_me.hipnc
Mzigaib
Thanks, I'll take a look on that! Cheers!
