squardis
I have searched for along time now, Im trying to search for a way to render a shadow without any compositing applied and see the Lighting geometry of my hdri in the background. Is that possible? like arnold / vray etc. thnx example scene: sphere object / hdri / grid as shadow
davpe
what about Shadow Matte material preset and enable rendering the background image? doesn't that doing what you want?
squardis
Well, the background image is a HDRI so it looks weird to see the full latlong image. Render light geometry on the enviroment does what i need but it makes the shadow matte material black. The shadow matte seems to work in alpha but in de RGB i get a black grid With background image turned on you also cant orbit around like in the enviroment light shadow matte.hip

(I think) If you need to match the shadows / with a backplate you would like to be interactive and see the changes directly. rendering out render passes is a second task. So there isnt any way to do in mantra like Vray or Arnold can?
