lanchka
Hello all I have been busy modeling a character and have come to a point where I have to make some chains. I have modeled a chain which has 20 links Apart from my chain I also have a curve ready in houdini Now in max there is a path deform mod to bend this along a spline Is there some way of doing the same in houdini? Please help... Cheers Lanchka
Marc
hmm... following your way, you could probably make the spline into a surface (extrude, rails or something like that) and then creep the chain onto it. However there is an easier way. If you have one link, you can copy the link onto the curve at each point with a copy SOP. If you download the 'tangent' HDA from the SESI exchange then you can get the normals to flow along the curve, and your links will align correctly to the chain. To get the links to fit properly you can resample the curve before the copy. .....um... I attached a hipfile, it's easier to show than to explain. It's pretty simple, but I'm sure you'll get the idea M simple_chain.hip.gz
