Stremik
Every time I load in to Houdini Apprentice some file created with earlier versions of Houdini, I get errors. The most common one is this: filename.hip load failed:Warning: Too many elements found for parameter "stdswitcher" [/obj/light1] This one uppears with every non 5.5 hip file. There are other errors depending on file being loaded. The files are still being loaded but useless since meny parameters are lost and I can't figure out what is going on in there. Some files get so scrued up due to these errors that nothing goes on at all! I've tried setting HOUDINI4_COMPATIBILITY variable but it didn't help. Is there any workaraund to this problem? ps. If you need an example you can try one of the files here. These files were created with Houdini 4.0.4 The one I'm trying to load called splash.hip
Jason
Hey Stremik, I'm sure that this is only a warning. It just means the light1 object had it's current tab opened on a page which has moved or disappeared. The tabs folders in Objects and Lights changed about a bit over the version jump, that's all.. Nothing serious! Cheers, J
tauf
I'm curious. Will Houdini 5.5 Apprentice open files last saved in Houdini 3.2? I tried it without any luck. I set my HOUDINI4_COMPATIBILITY to 1 which opens my Houdini 4 files okay (albeit with many error reports) It seems that Houdini 5.5 doesn't load any geometry or textures at all from 3.2 .hip files. Does anyone know of a utility or something that can update old files. Cheers.
