tjvoll
when working in houdini, there has been several instances when suddenly my computer will just reboot. No warning, error, or anything. I've just recently had to reformat my hard drive and i wasn't get that problem before. Does anyone know what this problem is related to? a compatibility problem? old drivers? The problem isn't necessarily due to houdini but it's only happened when i've been working in it. I'm using win2000, and houdini 5.5 apprentice. hope someone can help, Tom
sirogi
errr....guess we can call it a "mood" problem... sit down with your computer.... talk to it a little bit....you know, informally, no business.... get to know it better, and his personnality will surprise you! you'll see that it's so messed up it's amazing these things run at all! give it time, maybe a trip to hawaii would help (for him (her?) not you....) sorry for the shrink-rant ...couldn't help it! I feel your pain, cheers!
TheUsualAlex
Actually a few of my classmates has that same problems. Houdini has nothing to do with any of it at all. It's likely to be the graphics card and motherboard combinations that might have caused teh problem.
edward
The single biggest problem where I've seen computer reboots under Windows are caused by drivers. And with Houdini: graphics drivers. I miss the Windows NT 3.51 days where things were stable no drivers could ever crash the OS. <sigh>
tuangD
So if you update your driver to the newest version may be it help. I have a problem with display driver before, houdini just acting really weird. some menu don't show up and then it just hang and do nothing. Then I update my driver to the newest version that support Houdini. oh that problem just gone a way... may be this just a little suggestion... hope it helps, cheers -tuang
