felix
Did anyone sucessfully setup Mantra to utilize two CPUs in the same machine . I typed render command : mantra -H localhost, localhost , but it seemed like only one CPU is working , when I press the render button everytime. Jason
It works swimmingly on our Linux and NT workstations exactly like that. Are you sure it's not working? There must be something odd going wrong.
TheUsualAlex
Hey Felix, what version of Houdini are you running? Is you lic server same as your workstation? I have ran into that problem a while back, but I can't recall how it was fixed...
Jason
Ah - too true, Alex. Well remembered! If you do an "hserver -l", you'll see the license server version. Make sure it's the same version as Houdini. If not, you may have to uninstalled Sesinetd and re-install it with the matching version. I remember it was: sesinetd -qu; sesinetd -is I don't know if this has changed recently or not... I suspect it has.. J
chang
What a great tip ! Triple thanks. And it works on mantra only, right? Not for Omantra.
tuangD
I think on Omantra you can set number of CPUs.... Am I right??
felix
Hey Felix, what version of Houdini are you running? Is you lic server same as your workstation? I have ran into that problem a while back, but I can't recall how it was fixed... Thanks for all your suggestions / tips. I am using Houdini 5.5.36 that installed from Apprentice CD . I checked license server name and version . They both match to my machine name and software version . Is Mantra in Apprentice version do not support multi-precessors ? Finally, I may leave it alone as it render faster if I type "Mantra" only in render command .
