robert.magee
A new Houdini tutorial has been posted at www.sidefx.com under Learning > Tutorials. In this lesson, you will learn about the different tools and concepts used in a typical Houdini render pass pipeline. Features such as takes, light linking, and render dependencies are explored. It is available in PDF format which can be printed or read online. There are also support files to allow you to follow through the lesson on your own. malexander
Small tip: A slightly easier way to add File COPs is to use the 'Add File Operator' feature in the Network viewer. It is bound to backtick ` (and = for lefties). Pick as many file sequences as you want nodes, and click accept. One File COP will be created for each sequence, in a nice vertical stack. It's my preferred way to add file sequences in the compositor. And I'll be sure to let SESI know, too

In this lesson, each pass is initially created and loaded individually. The method taught also loads files by adding $F in the string to prepare for animated sequences (during the initial pass there is no animation). The 'Add File Operator' feature would only use $F if the passes were animated.
