Step like artifact in Volume

I am rendering in Arnold 17.0.416, with Arnold, using an Arnold volume and a few Arnold area lights. For the time when the smoke is thick, I am getting theses weird artifacts in some places. I have attached a picture of what is happening. Anything helps, thanks!

My first impressions of things to look at (most will be wrong):


Velocity vectors? Is motion blur on? Is there a vel volume?

Shadows? Are they bitmapped steppings? (no way, lol) Try other types of lights?

Is the smoke volume too coarse? Test a super coarse version for tests. (more testing than tests)

Could there be more volume filtering? Would loose some definition. Bad filter type? Box, triangle, gauss?
