Renderman 22 on Debian/Mint installation issues

Recommended Posts

The main issue is with the libssl and the Qt version that the installer uses. One thing that worked for me was to install the Qt 5.6.1 and also the openssl-1.0-dev.

I hope this helps you!

Cheers!

Thanks, Alejandro!

Success installation!

Did you have an idea of how to use volume shader to work with pyro fire? How to setup pxr_volume and pxrprimvar to build a similar "mantra pyro" on Renderman?

I tried a lot of combinations on this, but it is very poorly documented regarding volumes on Houdini.

Hey, there is an entire page for „shading a fireball with renderman“ in the docs. https://rmanwiki.pixar.com/display/RfH/Shading+a+Fireball

Actually its quite similar to mantra and Arnold when it comes to volume shading

Hi..although RPM packages are typically installed via command line, some Linux distributions have GUI-based package managers, like gnomerpm. Some distributions will also allow for double-clicking the RPM file in a directory browser, which will invoke RPM with default arguments. You can try this with your Linux-based system. Should it not begin the installation on its own (because you do not have the necessary components to double click an .rpm) then you may begin the process using the steps below.
