Jason Posted November 22, 2002 Share Posted November 22, 2002 the reason is that in the renderer, the displacement has to be computed before shading - mainly because displacment affects shading while shading doesn't affect displacement. PrMan allows you to have the same shader do displacement and shading (you can displace in the Surface shader), but that isn't really recommended.
