anicg
I need adaptive polyreduce: more polygons where there is more detail, and less polygons where it's rather flat. A bit like what the remesh does when you select adaptive. Can I get the polyreduce to do that? because now it's all uniform
Noobini
what about using Retain Density by Attribute ? by default it has retention but maybe add a measure. then retain by either edgelength (perimeter) or area or curvature ? or paint it in yourself as last resort. Noobini
here's a pretty simple demo, as you scrub the Percent to Keep, you'll see it starts decimating from bottom up, since lower height. You can also up the weight to 10 say and the effect would be more aggressive. vu_polyreduce_retention.hiplc
Noobini
on a more realistic geo, I found it more tricky than using a simple height. Here's Tommy as the test subject, I guess the more highly detailed an area...the area would be smaller so that's what I used. It then has to be complemented to get it to the 'larger' values and also to make it easier on the eyes I mult it by 1000. So if you scrub % here you'll see the larger areas being decimated before his face is touched. vu_polyreduce_retention2.hiplc Edited December 12, 2019 by Noobini
