Tips for modeling after a STL

Say you have a triangulated STL which you want to recreate a clean version of.

What are some options to match primitives to parts of the object ?

I was thinking mostly of blast / match size combo.

What about matching an open circle arc to some points in the model ?

have you tried the sidefx labs quad remesher (requires license) or the instant meshes (open source) bridge?
