Rafal123
hi, I've noticed there are many books for CG and rendering fundamentals, describing many aspects of those in depth like Renderman books. What about rigging? Can somebody recommend something? I wanna also ask if Houdini use some "different approach" in rigging? And are there any "standards" in rigging? I mean in modelling ie: vertex is a vertex and perhaps every 3D app call this what should be called vertex as vertex, right? Now in rigging ie: maya use joints and houdini use bones, etc.
michael
nope...no rigging bools for Houdini (there is chapter 7 of The Magic of Houdini)...you can use books written for other software and just adapt them...works most of the time.... as for standards...there really aren't any, beyond common sense etc... 3DBuzz has a few general VTMs on rigging...very basic but will get you going... rigging is strangely very app specific...while may of the concepts are the same the way different apps implement them can be quite different.... have a look at the rig included with Houdini...tear it apart to see what's going on... other than that just start rigging and post any questions/problems you have... edward
I don't the basics of rigging in Houdini are really that different though? What's different is basically just how you implement constraints, no? Isn't there more the same than not?
