k2p8
Hi folks ! Is ACEScg rendering usefull for volume rendering ? I was reading more about ACEScg in general (still abstract for me at this point) : https://chrisbrejon.com/cg-cinematography/chapter-1-5-academy-color-encoding-system-aces/ And it seems, from the article, to give good results in color saturation and GI so i am planning to implement aces in htoa to do some tests. Have you guys already tested ACEScg in houdini, especially for volumes ?
Drughi
ACES is always better. Its not just good for color saturation. Also highlight and shadow rolloff is much better. And in general it behaves more natural. You will see it in almost every production for cinema; netflix is using it and many others.
Howitzer99
The gamut of ACES is super-wide, which will definitely help to retain the subtleties of colors and shadows in volume renders. I first started using ACES on projects at ILM several years ago, and have never looked back.
