johann
Hi all and a happy new year, I have searched the docs and this forum and spent several hours modeling a base shape for a radio tower. I do this basically by clicking a curve and revolving it. I understand that it is possible to add points to a curve using shift+LMB, but can I somehow select more than one point and move them as one? Without this, it quickly gets fairly annoying... I have to redo previously made features all the time - what may I be missing here? Thanks Johann
Visual Cortex Lab
I guess EDITsop is what you're looking for?
johann
[one' date=Jan 3 2007, 03:19 PM' post='32915]I guess EDITsop is what you're looking for? Well, I could edit after the curve SOP, but if I add additional points in the Curve (I do this all the time), the edit SOP will of course edit the wrong points. I am missing something here, but isn't there the possibility, like in Maya or other applications, to move multiple points in curve edit mode? For me, this is crucial for building complex curves. How do people handle this normally? if anyone is interested, I have included the scene file. Thanks Johann tower.hipnc
stevenong
Hi Johann, Unfortunately, you can't edit multiple points with the Curve SOP. However, you can use the Refine SOP to define a section of the curve to add more points then use another Edit SOP for those newly created points. Repeat as needed. Others might have different workflow for this though. Nice tower you have there. I can't wait to see the final render. Please let us know if you have other questions. Cheers! steven
sibarrick
A slightly more efficient way, sop wise, is to use refine sops after the curve but before the edit sop. The refine sop doesn't reorder the points so any existing edits will still relate to the points you made first. The down side to this is when you jump back up the node list to insert a new refine you might not be able to tell where you want to insert the points. If only sesi would add the ability to move multiple points in the curve sop, modelling would be sooooo much quicker. And the number of sops needed would drop dramatically.
