MIguel P
Hello Lukich. Have you seen my bullet imapct system? http://forums.odforce.net/index.php?showtopic=4292&st=12 I know it isn't a real reference, but the title of this topic surpised me. You also can see more similar impacts (CG) in this video from Daniel P. Ferreira: http://www.danielpferreira.com/reel/r2005/...ystem6_4000.avi(My system is inspired in his system). And in Alvin Yap's web page: http://www.alvinvfx.com/gallery.html They both are odforce users. Edited January 16, 2007 by MIguel P
Lukich
Hey, Miguel. Yes, I did see you impact system, a great work by the way. However, there's a difference between your system and the system yours is based on and a couple of practical references I got, mostly from the Matrix. In your case the smoke stays pretty close to the wall whereas in the Matrix it flies off quite far. I need more reference to make a decision as to whether make the smoke short or shoot it way out. Edit: Wow, I just discovered Detonation Films!!! These guys are awesome!!! Edited January 16, 2007 by Lukich
lynbo
Hey Lukich consider for a moment that The Matrix bullit hits are "Movie Bullit Hits" that is they are contrived. the reason the smoke shoots out so far is because when the installation of the hit was done on the scenery it was preped by first drilling a hole the installing the hit and topping it off with dust ( fullers earth) and cork bits and or whatever they may have used for small debris. So you have a small explosive device inside a hole or tube.. (or wait for it a barrel, like a gun ), and what you get when you set it off is a rather elongated plume. So if this is a great look and if you like it then "go big or go home!" Personally I like the big "Movie bullit hits"! If you shoot something for real it generally looks really boring, except for bottles and cans and stuff like that. If you are seeking something more realistic then this might color your decision. Sorry so wordy! anyway I hope this helps. I'll see if I can dig up some real reference.
Lukich
Yeah, that's true, the Matrix shots have been staged. But they look so damn cool! I guess I'm ready to forsake the realism for good looks, but the more reference there is to work off, the better, so if you find anything, I'll be eternally grateful.
