anicg
Alembic vs bgeo.sc which is more efficient, faster to work with inside Houdini? If I use an Alembic animation as an input for a simulation, will the simulation be faster if I first convert the alembic to bgeo.sc? jkunz07
In most cases I've found bgeo.sc to be faster compared to alembic and it is quite common practice to cache you're simulation inputs ti disk as bgeo.sc to speed up sims.
Ratman
Always, always, Import Alembic, convert to geometry, cache to bgeo.sc. Continue working
Skybar
Test it! Also be careful, since alembic can contain sub-frame data that you might need. Caching this to a bgeo per frame will lose that.
