ofer
Here is an old mafia car I modelled completely in houdini. I don't know what I want to do with it next. Probably shade it. car.avi

ofer
Thanks. Here is a better rendering. I should have used motion blured shadows for the rain, or no shadows at all... Next time I will. car.avi
LEO-oo-
I like the old style - nice job!
ofer
I think Im satesfied with the rain effect. I just need to add blurry reflections of light sources. So, what do you think? Ill be happy to hear some suggestions for improvment. Thanks car3.avi Edited April 28, 2007 by ofer
MIguel P
Nice model ofer The rain doesn't look very realistic. Maybe you can use my Rain OTL, it is in the exchange: http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com...&Itemid=
ofer
Thanks. About the rain, what would you improve? My net is actually quiet similiar to your asset.
MIguel P
I would add much more rain. These drops with their size would fall much faster. The little drops in the collision also should move faster. You can add water sliding in the car, like in my otl. And of course, change the shader. I think the scene will look better
ofer
OK. I thought about adding sliding water, maybe I will. About the density, I want to replace the rain particles with a composite effect, because my computer can barely handle the scene already. Maybe it will help. But the speed, I'm really statisfied with it, especially with the splashes. But I will try to increase velocity and decrease the size. I looked in your otl, and it uses approximately the same parameters as I am using, so I guess it is a matter of scale. Thanks for the comments, Ill use them. 3__
If you're after realistic then I'd replace the small circular splatter with fewer, faster, more random spawns. Generally you don't notice the small splashes in RL, except if the impact surface is water, or (sometimes) if the rain is backlit. Getting the beads of water to jump-around, merge and run properly should be noticable tho. good luck! some refs: http://creative.gettyimages.com/source/Fil...ain&brand=6 -cpb
