eetu
Hullo. I've been wanting to do something less-commercial educational work, and I feel like H would be a perfect tool for stuff like that. Just to practice I started to build a scene to visualize "optimal" transfer orbits. It's still a bit physically incorrect, angular velocities are wrong and launch timing too. I'd also like to add vector visualizations to show the location and magnitude of the needed burns. screencap There's nothing especially clever going on, the math ain't heavy either. The toughest thing was to get an ellipse to touch two known points with one focal point at the sun, but by adding some limitations to the scene it wasn't too hard As a side note I LOVE how we can now add our own parameters anywhere on the nodes and not just on a spare panel! eetu. Yep, I've been doing educational games this year and I have to say that is very gratifying. And Houdini always come into my mind with it's flexibilities and power. As a side note I LOVE how we can now add our own parameters anywhere on thenodes and not just on a spare panel! That is good to hear, I haven't had much time to play with v9, but I hated to have to use the spare panel on earlier version. Keep up with the good work! grasshopper
As a side note I LOVE how we can now add our own parameters anywhere on thenodes and not just on a spare panel! Good to know and will be extremely useful BUT from the screenshot you provide it will also be confusing as there is no indication what is a default parameter and what is added by the user. It would be good to have something as simple as a different color for the user-added parameters so we can tell them apart from the defaults. j

Same as anywhere else in Houdini (Edit Parameters Interface->Channels->Defaults)
