photex
Other than whats at the sidefx site: www.sidefx.com/tutorials When you launch Houdini, the help browser has links to a few videos as well. The VizyAcky.com Modeling course is amazing also. You will become comfortable very quickly with Houdini. There is also a lot of information here on OdForce as well. Marc
Most modeling methods are completely compatible with Houdini... so learning to use the viewport to place down SOPs and select geometry will be the greatest help. Once you've got that then you can apply pretty much any modeling tutorial to the Houdini workflow. Modeling is for the most part a non-procedural process anyway (unless you're modeling with NURBS, in which case that can change), so in theory you're not too worried about what's going on in the background. Not sure I'd agree with that, but you're right if you are starting out its probably best to get going using traditional methods first. Marc
I guess it all depends on what you're doing .
Rafal123
Hi i am new to houdini... Can anyone please guide to some tutorials on modeling in houdini ... that would be much appreciated thanks..Regards you can use older H8 tuts and 3D buzz head tutorial, quite good, also there is somethin mistical and misterious.... some call it DOCUMENTATION, it's very hard to read but it's very helpfull and full of examples, it's unknown why newcomers ain't like it but the last researches gives us the answer: THEY DON"T HEARD about it and they are scarry, but I swear it's good for you
photex
The best thing to do is go through the list of each sop, drop one down into the network and play with it. Can't figure it out, load the help card, then load the examples. The examples reveal a lot. Here is another site with some example hip files (not really modeling focused, but clever SOP networks hide in the strangest places): http://www.3daet.com/
