brain
Hi, I downloaded the Vex's for water, but I have no clue how to get these to work. I am using Version 4.0. Tried to copy the *.vfl files somewhere in the Houdini directory, but it does not work. Thanks for any advice.
stevenong
Hi there, In the Scripting.fmk.pdf file, there is a good introduction to VEX. Included in the documentation are the steps necessary to setup directories & index files for VEX files. When creating the directories & index files, please take note of the capitalization (or non-capitalization) as Houdini is case sensitive. Also, there is a good shader writing tutorial in the Tutorials section of odforce which should help you too! Have fun! Cheers! steven
Carlos
Hi Brain, I've put together a mini step by step written tutorial on this: http://www.visualparadigms.com/houdini/for...wtopic.php?t=10 It's actually been up there for a while now --Carlos
Wolfwood
If anyone is interested and John Coldrick doesn't mind I can post a modified version of John's mshop. You can set the renderer to be mantra instead of prman so you can compile a .vfl instead of a .sl. It will automatically move the .vex and .ds files to the correct project ($JOB) folder and also create/edit the corresponding VEXxxx/SHOPxxx file. Scripting == time savings == more time on odforce jim.
