christianl013
Hi Everyone! I was curios if anyone was familiar or experienced with offsetting animated textures on geo. For example, I have an animated staircase that forms on from the bottom up. I have cached one animated step to alembic and then offset the animation with a copy to points. How would it work if I had an animated displacement on the animated step? In other words how would one go about getting the shader with the texture to respect the offset animation on the copy to points so that the animated texture would start with the same offset? Thus far I have resorted to baking the displacement into the geo, but then my geo has to be Hi resolution, which gets a bit heavy. And then I had the idea to bake out the displacement attribute with COPS and use a texture but I wasnt sure how to get the shader to respect the offsetting from the copy to points. I hope that makes sense, I would love to hear from you guys on any preferred workflows for this or best practices. Thanks! Best, Christian
