wreath
Yeah "SYmek" probably it's the best way but i really don't have enough time to work on both and i have not any programming skills too so vex looks lil hard to me but i want to know if vex is really better than using vops i will focus on it, need your advices. symek
Vex it' easier then you think, basically it's the easiest version o C possible. Whole misunderstanding with VEX and RSL is that it's not a language that stops you and makes troubles, it's a concept of programmable shading makes it hard. Once you grab the concept, you fly with no obstacles. Yes, VOPs are perhaps better place to start, but jumping in VEX wouldn't also very hard. Start reading VEX shaders included in Houdini or use odforce wiki. VOP is great for combining some number of patterns, texture, reflection functions, when you'd like to experiment in artistic way or (as opposite) you *precisely know what you're trying to do. VEX is way more flexible and reach, and onces things go harder and more complicated, you probably will want to try VEX. This is how it works for me. On the over hand, there are people here who make VOPs stuff much more complicated then my VEX code. So... you know, all depends... cheers, sy.
