Problem with edge divide

Hello

wants to know,why is it so hard to divide ring selection of edges in houdini with edge divide?Is it something I m doing wrong ??please check the hip file.

When I asked it to use close path it leaves 1 or more edges unconnected .

Hello Guys,

I have figured out how to solve it.Actually u will have to very careful with ur edge selection although other softwares like Lightwave, MAX, MODO and others which are smart enough to judge your ring selection.

Anyways this is you should do.

Select your edges in numbered ordered like clock wise or anticlock wise one by one

Apply edge divide it will never go wrong

If you will select your edge ring in one go you will not be able to get the rite results.

As for the improvements I would suggest SESI to provide some smart RING selection tools. like modo or max.

Agreed that the loop selection should be made smarter when it hits points with three or five (or more) edges.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but wondering if there are any solutions to this problem? It is really cumbersome having to select the edges in order.
