houdini display driver & 3Delight

Recommended Posts

I've set up 3Delight with Houdini and sorted all environment variables. Everything works besides VEX mode in which i get an error with 3Delight & the houdini display driver that comes with proto_install...? Any solutions are welcomed

Here is the error in question.

Houdini 9.1.xxx win64

Windows XP 64bit (with all the latest Windows updates)

proto_install --> houdini display driver

3Delight 7.0

This happens when I go to shader view in Vex mode.

This is what I get in the Houdini Console:

3DL ERROR D2003: cannot open display driver 'C:/DOCUME~1/Nile/MYDOCU~1/houdini9.1/ri_shaders/d_houdini.dll' (system error: A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.)

When I try to install the Renderman display driver for 3Delight it's telling me RMANTREE is undefined? and when I try to try and work on shaders... "renderdl.exe" crashes then it asks me for prman still.

HOUDINI_DEFAULT_RIB_RENDERER is set to 3Delight6.5.

Has anyone had the same or similar issue?

H9.5.290

WINDOWS XP 64BIT

3DELIGHT 7.0 AND 8.0

just curious, hope this is not too off topic, but wondering what particularly you are choosing to use 3delight for instead of mantra? I haven't used a renderman renderer before, but I'm interested in the topic, though never had a need to seriously consider switching from mantra. Anyone else feel free to chime in if you have experience in renderman and mantra as well.
