Mantra crash on HDR PBR

Recommended Posts

Hi ! I'm having some problems with a test scene whitch I try to render with only an HDR mapped on an env light with 768 area samples. I use PBR with 42 /42 samples per pixel and it crashes. The Houdini console tells me "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information.

UT_NetPacket::read: No such file or directory

3272: Fatal error: Segmentation Fault

Crash log saved to C:/Users/Mihai/AppData/Local/Temp/crashlog_Mihai"

and the log looks like this

It could be a problem due to the high settings of my setup? I cranked them a little bit up because the image I get still has plenty of noise, hoping to reduce it. But it crashes.

Here is what I managed to render with a bit lower settings that the one above.

I attached the scene file and the HDR too.

Could be a run out of memory issue?

My system is 8core xeon 2.8ghz 8gb ram.

Thank you !

My first guess would be that you're running out of memory at 42/42 - especially with the transparency that you've got in the scene. The first thing that I'd do would be to set the renderer to use a single processor only.
