Palm branch

Hey guy, I have a project where I have to model a palmetto branch... figured that this would be rather easy in houdini using a deformed circle to sweep a curve, then copy leaves across the points of the newly skinned tube... not so much... IDK if im just dumb and im missing something or if theres a better way... this palm also has to be animated in order to blow in the wind at some point... any guidance from you guys would be greatly appreciated!!
