"trapcode shine" effect with cops ?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there is a simple way to mimic trapcode Shine with houdini.

I tried with lighting cop, but it seems it's not designed for it, though it has a volumetric function. but I can't see any volumetric shadows

Am I looking in the right direction ?

if you are doing it in comp, it is generally and edge detect combined with a radial blur (more computationally expensive) or streak blur (cheaper,but only one directional streaks).

have a look at the comp network in the hip.

Not really sure what trapcode shine effect is but my google search turned up a fake volume light effect. You can do that in cops using the lighting node.

sibarrick: any example ? my houdini help is not helping me today, some connection problems so can't get any info how force it to work.

The lighting COP doesn't do shadows simply because the Z information doesn't include the back-half of objects. The resulting shadows might look a little strange, so I did not include it in the Lighting COP as potential bug-bait :)
