robert.magee
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is a movie where big screen heroes leap through moving trains, freefall from the stratosphere, and unleash an ongoing stream of destruction and debris. To help bring this summer blockbuster to the big screen, Digital Domain was called in to execute a wide range of visual effects shots –320 total. For many of these shots, Digital Domain chose Houdini to bring down the house, or in the case of G.I. Joe, the Eiffel Tower: http://tinyurl.com/lfzr7r

CodeBreak
Is it just me, or were most of the effects in this movie very...not quite what you expected? Some things were done very well (The Eiffel Tower Sequence for instance). But some scenes, like the dive to the underwater base, seemed like they ran out of time and didn't worry too much about integration with the rest of the film footage so much as "Hurry because we're running behind, so get it out as it is!" I'm not sure if it was the intention of the director to make some things look "Not real", but that did bother me some. Am I alone here?
