Hi everybody,

My name is Emanuele and I'm an Italian FX TD.

I'd like to show my reel to odforce community to know what do you think about it.

Here there's a link to the highres version, small version and to the breakdown:

http://www.leleberti.com/reel.asp

Six months ago I decided to stop accepting productions and I started to learn Houdini by myself, day and night;

and a month ago I finished my first experiment, a whole procedural short film.

Here you can see the lowres, the highres and the case study:

http://www.leleberti.com/res.asp?job=0

During these years I've developed strong analytical and problem solving skills and I'm determined to grow as a FX TD using Houdini,

so, I'd like to start using it in some production.

Thanks to all of you for your attention, for your feedbacks and for your advice.

Cheers

Emanuele

Hi Michael,

Thanks !!!

The company I worked for has uploaded the vfx shots of Draining the Ocean here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOPF3QvN-dI

Actually that is just the vfx reel, I don't know where you can see the entire doc.

Cheers

Hi guys,

thanks for your compliments, they make me really happy and they push me to go ahead in my studies.

I don't know if you have seen my breakdown or not,

so, just to be clear I'd like to say that in my reel,

the only thing I have done in Houdini, has been the Sleeping puzzle's shots.

I know that its quality level is lower than other projects,

actually I put in there just because I'd like to have the possibility to write about it in the breakdown to show it around.

What do you think about that idea?

As soon as possible I'll publish on my website a technical making of to show what the UI controls really does.

@Peter:

Well, I don't think I'm so unique... :)

About Houdini you are right, I don't think there are companies in Italy those use it... this is the reason why I'm looking for a job in UK.

Maybe starting using Maya and Realflow and begin to introduce a little of Houdini somewhere in my workflow... :)

I'd like to thank you because when I was working in Bristol, I saw your bridge HDA and the DVD you made for 3DBuzz... Great Works, man!!!

The bridge contest showed me how lovely an HDA was and after I studied a little Houdini, I tried to build my own HDA to create puzzles and to animate them.

Cheers,

Emanuele

  • 1 month later...

Hi everyone,

I'm back for a quick update,

I have uploaded on my website the first part of Making of.

http://www.leleberti.com/res.asp?job=0

This screen capture is about the asset that controls the procedural modelling behind the short "The sleeping puzzle".

I hope it will make clearer what I did during the realization of my short.

As soon as possible I'll publish the part 2 - Animation.

Stay tuned... if you are interested in.

As always, C&c are very welcome !!!

Cheers,

Emanuele
