  1. Hey! I'm trying to add the pyro shader image planes (fire_color,fire_mask,smoke_color,smoke_mask) to the list of check box image planes introduced in H14 to quickly turn them on when I'm rendering pyro stuff. Just copying the ones that are already there in the parameter editor and replacing the image plane names with those ones didn't work, though. Does anyone know if it's possible to edit the Mantra node in this way? Thanks!
  2. Sorry, I didn't properly attach the file. rbd_activation.hip
  3. Hi, I'm trying to set the activation of pieces in an RBD fractured sim by using an attribute created from the density of a volume in SOPS. But when I run the sim, pieces that aren't supposed to fall fall, and pieces that are supposed to don't. When I look at the initial attribute created through the volume, and the activation values in the DOP data, it appears to be correct, but it doesn't sim properly. I have no idea what to do to get this to work properly . I'd really appreciate any input anyone can give me to help fix this!
  4. Thanks! this looks cool, I'll see what I can do with it. I tried using a magnet SOP, and it was sort of working. But this looks way better. Thanks again!
  5. Hi, I don't have a lot of experience in Houdini. I go to a visual effects school that mostly teaches maya, but I am trying to use Houdini as much as possible. I'm working on creating a robotic vent anemone, but I'm having trouble getting the arms to bend down in the right way. I started off by trying to reproduce what I found in this thread. But I can't figure out how to bend the arms downwards, away from the center of the anemone. Can anyone give me any advice on how I should approach this? If I was working in maya I might try using nCloth, or something, so I thought of using the new finite element solver. But, when I try to start experimenting with that, it just kills Houdini and doesn't work. Sorry, I'm sure this is extremely noobish. Thanks for any help! anemone_v17.hip
  6. Thanks guys! Both suggestions are cool. I haven't worked with houdini very much and this was really hanging me up. I appreciate the help!
  7. I have 10 randomly located points, that I need to animate moving to the positions of 10 corresponding points on a grid. How do I take the position attributes of the target points and animate the positions of the original points moving to them? Is this the best way to do this? red netbox is original points, blue box is target points movingpoints.hipnc
