LaidlawFX
Trying to make my life easier by finding all the pre-built keyboard short cuts in Houdini. I started with the mouse pad, and went a through z in the network context, then started with some random diving. Figured I would share the doc, since, I haven't found one like it yet. It still needs more cleaning and organizing, but god knows when I'll sit down to fix it and it will get lost on my hard drive. So enjoy. jujoje
Good stuff! I've been looking for a list of shortcuts for some time. This will certainly come in handy.
edward
The problem of course is that Houdini is highly context sensitive and the same key can do different things in the different contexts. Take a gander at the Hotkey Manager and you'll see that everything is organized in a "tree-like" fashion.
quinniusmaximus
Not to pimp another persons work but GFX Hotkeys is a nice little app if you have one of thos iOS devices. LaidlawFX
Not to pimp another persons work but GFX Hotkeys is a nice little app if you have one of thos iOS devices. Has the hotkeys for houdini and many others Nice app for $3. Especially with the other software packages. As for the context sensitive portion I can just organize per pane on the next go around. I was running into that problem the more panes I was visiting. First the global (most alt), next the scene view, then the network view, etc... It would make more sense for look ups too, the mouse pad was a good start, but the compartment of it is kind of limiting.
edward
Wow, I should do one for Houdini only and charge $0.99!
robert.magee
There are lots of hotkeys listed in the user guide introduction along with the main hotkeys on a cheat sheet at the end: http://www.sidefx.com/images/stories/getting_started/guide_introduction/hguide_00_introduction.pdf Attached is a 24 page document listing as full a list as I have seen - this is not formatted very well and hasn't been verified but I am posting so you can enjoy it for what it is.... robert houdini_hotkeys_fulllist.pdf
LaidlawFX
I would pay a buck for this list as a no brainier.
zarti
thanks to both of you guys ! no matter how they are formatted , it is nice to have those collected . , .. just as a semi-idea / suggestion / question ; wd it be possible to have another kind of 'hyperSensitive' panel ( just like the local help system ) which wd display the shortcuts available in a context-sensitive fashion ? maybe 'a branch' inside of local help .. easy switchable with a tab ? imo , beside the fact that shortcuts speed up the workflow considerably , that wd be a nice educational'n'reference feature inside the Hou itself .. p.s. : when the H13 WishList thread will be opened 'officially' ? =P
LaidlawFX
p.s. : when the H13 WishList thread will be opened 'officially' ? =P lmao.... I thought I was antsy the last time I started that thread... I say we start 15 and ask for direct mental connections to the software... LaidlawFX
Am on into Keyframed animation and raw channel manipulation sector, can any of you give me a suggestions on them, i mean how to learn them easily... My tutor wont give a clear definition Uh I would say you should redirect this question to another thread, its a large topic in and of itself. The animators survival kit is a good book to learn about key frame animation in general. Highly recommend. Houdini's graph editor is a little wacky compared to maya's and 3dsmax's, but you can pull a book on animating in those since they are abundant for regular animation and ask how one tool translates from one package to another. Plus there are the two Houdini Books kicking out there, and some video's from cmivfx and cg-masters, plus the stuff on sidefx website, some are more tailored to traditional animation or houdini's procedural approach, both having their advantages for what you are dealing with. Raw channel manipulation could be dealing with channel references, or most likely chops and motion effects, but that is another large section of info to look up. LaidlawFX
Round 3 100s of more short cuts(roughly 420;), organized by panes, more tightly packed, 4 pages. Still needs more proofing... and some more random button pressing on each area. I collected most from the menu areas, but there are a few that aren't listed some are more redundant than others.
