Macha
I have tiny fast particles with motionblur but rather than smooth blurred lines I get irregularly dotted noisy ones. I tried upping pixels samples (>100), increase dicing, shading, no motionfactor, raytracing bias, pixel filter types, but I cannot get a smooth result. What else influences smooth motionblur? Macha
Hmm. Seems like jitter to zero, and pixel samples up has a positive effect. Not perfect but helps.
ryew
I can't speak from experience with Mantra for this problem, but with Renderman I've had to crank samples up to 24 or higher to get smooth results in the past (at which point I usually wondered if it would be worth just outputting motion vectors and doing it in comp instead)
eetu
Which render engine?
Macha
Micropolygon that is.
eetu
I tried for a bit, but had no real luck either. Maybe scale per-pixel pscale, so that particle size in NDC is clamped to a minimum value? (still small, but not overly tiny..)
3dbeing
Micropolygon that is. Did you try upping geo time samples?
