hatrick
Hi, Please see the attached example scene. I ve setup a custom attribute which is getting mapped as a custom variable. Could someone please explain how to use that custom variable for further simple operations. I thought setting a parameter $VARIABLE should work but ... ? magneto
I think for it to work on PolyExtrude SOP, dist has to be a primitive attribute, not point. If you do this, then it works. But I am not sure if that's correct
hatrick
thank you magneto.... could you please explain ... why is that )? ... and how about a transform sop ... i.e how to drive the scale parameter. i ve no specific goal here, just a matter of interest. please see the example thank you pointdistance_v02.hip
hatrick
better example pointdistance_v03.hip Edited March 6, 2012 by hatrick
magneto
I am not really sure of the actual reason but I thought PolyExtrude working on polys/prims, it works with prim attributes only. In your example, now it's correct, but the DIST attribute is too small to see any effect.
gaurav
and how about a transform sop ... i.e how to drive the scale parameter. i ve no specific goal here, just a matter of interest. Try promoting it to class detail and use it. Transform sop needs a single value for the entire geometry. Cheers,
