magneto
Hi, Sometimes when I am searching odforce, I find a useful hip file showing me how to do something, and I try to do it myself, and then store the original somewhere. But it's nearly impossible to know which file had a particular technique you are looking for without opening and inspecting it. It would be amazing if we had a repository that tagged the files so you could search for things like "collision sdf stick", and it would show you the files that had those methods and you could look inside to explore or remember a technique, etc. Maybe a joint effort to tag the files and centralize them? How do you manage your hip file archive (personal and/or gathered from the forums)? I see people pulling up hip files faster than I can ask Thanks
amination
Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/download/jtbx9oj6ja2w8rs/FileNotesSetup.msi This app is only for Windows. And here how it works: Simply right click on your files and select notes to add notes on your file
magneto
Thanks amination. That looks like a useful program. Is this how you all manage your hip files?
Guest mantragora
I tag my files by adding tags to the file name: SuperSceneThatContainsThingsINeverRemember-[author,subject,more,more,more].hip I'm using square bracket tagging for everything. Python scripts, otls etc.
edward
The Houdini Tutorial Database strikes me as somewhat related to this : http://www.papicrunch.net/GC-houdb/?collec=0&model=list
magneto
Thanks Edward, it seems to categorize and search for titles rather than using arbitrary tags. Still it's something and I have been using it for a while I wrote a small app that does what I want in the end though.
