magneto
Hi, I am trying to fracture an object that's hollow, has thickness but it creates a mess where there is no geometry: The points are fused, the primitive normals are facing outside. Any ideas? Thanks
mangi
Hi magneto, Well I did fabricate a scene based on your snapshot. I had no issue , could you put up the scene of your snap shot, to see how you are getting this issue. Here is the hip with the method of the snap that has no issue. Well it is the basic way that you fracture things. cheers Mangi fracture_hollow.hipnc
magneto
Thanks mangi, I attached my file. I really don't know how mine is different other than I used NURBS and then converted to polygons. hollow.hip Edited February 27, 2014 by magneto
Skybar
Thanks mangi, I attached my file. I really don't know how mine is different other than I used NURBS and then converted to polygons. Take a look at the edge that your Fillet SOP is creating. It looks like it lines up fine as nurbs, but when you convert to Poly you clearly see that it doesn't. The Fuse SOP then won't connect all the points and voilá your geo is wide open.
magneto
Thanks Skybar, I didn't notice those. Now when I look at it, I can see that even the NURBS fillet seem to be misaligned. I will check my model for holes then. I just didn't think Fillet would create holes.
