jonathantopf
Hi there, Im playing with some simple hou scenes and im getting some interesting behaviour. I'm new to hou so its probably obvious whats going on, im just getting used to things In the attached scene I have a copy sop duplicating a cube across a line. I stamp the $PT num attribute and use it to set the cubes Cd value. But when I add a transform under the cube the Cd values change. I guess it makes sense, cd is just a simple vector like position that can be transformed but its not the desired behaviour. Is there a way to tell the transform sop to only transform point and normal data? Cheers jt copy.hipnc
magneto
It's because you created Cd as a vector. Change it to float and set the size to 3, so float[3].
jonathantopf
Ahhaaa, makes sense ofcourse Thanks!
Skybar
It's quite strange though. The color only changes with rotating in Y and Z, as well as scaling in X.
jonathantopf
i think this is as only the red, i.e x channel is non zero, so if you transform along the x axis then you are transforming two 0's which will when rotating will always be 0, very clever actually, I never thought of a color in this way before
magneto
Also AFAIK usage of vector type is discouraged, and is only there for backwards compatibility. You can use the type qualifier near the Type parameter.
