fragmentzero
Hello, I am encountering this weird crash with vopsop in Houdini Apprentice 13.0.414. Repro is very simple - 1. Create a box. 2. Add a vopsop. 3. In vopsop connect P from global to P in output. 4. Crash. Am I missing something or is it a bug? Thanks
fragmentzero
Ok, so there is nothing wrong with simple procedure above. (off course ) It's working just fine at my home PC but at work its a 100% crash. I'll try to re install a different version of Houdini and see. Strange though. edward
If it reproduces on the latest daily build, make sure you submit it.
fragmentzero
Installed latest 32-bit daily build - 13.0.439 and the issue exists on my work PC. How do you submit such bugs? I suspect it could be due to GPU drivers conflicting with vops.
fragmentzero
Installed latest nVidia drivers and tried vex code as well. Similar crash. I have filed the bug on SESI website. Thanks
edward
VOPs doesn't use the GPU. However, I suppose the viewport can always crash trying to display the geometry, which might be related to GPU drivers. Does the crashlog mention anything GPU related? fragmentzero
Nothing about GPU in particular. I just assumed that as VOPs are SIMD type of processing. This is from Houdini console upon crash - 5584: Fatal error: Illegal instruction Saving application data to C:/Users/VISHAN~1.SHA/AppData/Local/Temp/crash.untitled.vishang.shah_5584.hip I also did a test by not have scene view visible but same crash. Skybar
Have you tried deleting your prefs? Or just renaming it so Houdini creates new default ones.
fragmentzero
Good point & No I haven't. I will try that after the weekend. Thanks.
fragmentzero
Based on SideFX's advice, installing Windows 7 service pack 1 fixed the crash. Thanks for the help.
