hall
Any chance to get ETA from mantra? In my case its important when you are rendering still image using 4k up resolution.
michael
you can use the pre-render/post-render scripts on the mantra ROP... it's clumsy but it works
lukeiamyourfather
Coming up with a meaningful ETA for a render in progress is pretty much impossible because the time required to render each bucket can vary wildly from a fraction of a second for an empty bucket to several minutes or more for a complex bucket. http://xkcd.com/612/ Using a proxy render would give a better ETA, for example rendering something at 1/8 resolution and then multiplying that result by 64 for the full resolution. It won't be exact but it will be close.
michael
opps.. sorry I though you were asking for a way to measure the time of a render...
Guest tar
Perhaps non-adaptive sampling could make it more predictable too?
hall
michael, yes you are right, when you refers to pre-render/post-render script,..is something ike this? http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini13.0/render/python I noticed the parms for render completion per bucket. sounds cool! But I'm really new to implement that, I'll research more about. thx guys!
