Guest Christian Schumann
Hello everybody! I am searching for Screenshots of PRISMS nodebased expression editor. I need this for a written report i am doing for my studies. The report is about a visaul node based environment for VR. During my investigations i learned that Houdinis ancestor was the first to use this paradigma in graphics. That's why i would like to include screenshots. I found some in the galery, but those include nodes for materials (LAVA), modelling (SAGE) and compositing (ICE), but since my work is concentrated on expressions, i could use info and screenshots about node based Expressions for Animation in PRISMS (i guess, there is a special modul for this purpose?). I guess there are not many installations of this tool out there today, but maybe.... Thanks for every help Chris (a c4d guy ;-))
sibarrick
I don't remember one, you just used to type expressions into fields exactly like you do in Houdini. It also had an expression function editor exactly the same as the one in Houdini were you can add your own C code functions. Don't remember any thing else. I think the screen shots in the gallery pretty much cover it. There weren't really any nodes in PRISMs if you put Houdini into list mode that was how PRISMs looked all the time. Sage, Lava, Ice etc came later and were the testing ground for Houdini functionality with the ability to wire up nodes in a visual way. Guest Guest
Hey It's not exactly what i hoped for, but it helps a lot. When visual expressions were introduced to cinema4d, a maxon employee said, houdini did it earlier, but i guess he reffered to the whole node-idea, not to node-based expressions. Thank you very much CU
edward
Well, CHOPs (CHannel Operators) I'm pretty sure was a first. But that didn't come until 1998 according: http://www.sidefx.com/company/history/index.html I *think* this was Houdini 3.0.

sibarrick
I would bet that the way you could add expressions into any field directly was pretty new. I think most packages would have required a whole seperate part of the ui for that, if they even allowed it at all.
