Pyro: start simulation on a different frame

Hi,

So I want my sim to start at '-20 frame'.

I set DOP Network Start Frame to -20 and Creation Frame od the Smoke Object also to -20.

But the sim does not work properly. There is some calculation because it's very slow. But I can't see anything.

Seem that I didn't set the sim properly. How do I set this properly to start at -20?

hmmmm, my quick test worked fine with that method. What is the result you expect versus the one you are getting? And what do you mean by slow? :D

if time is an issue try this technique:

-sim from the first frame (whatever that is) to the amount you want to preroll (20 frames),

-then save that frame to disk (from the dopnet) as a .sim.

- finally set the "Initial State" path to that .sim file. That will then be used as the first frame.

Cheers!

Works fine with frame set to -20.

A better way is to set your shot start frame to 1001 (plenty of room for preroll: 1000 frames)

if you need 20 frames of preroll, change your timeline start frame to 980. 1001 is still the first frame you'll be using.
