ibaniser
Hi guys, I am currently working on a rain system. I have got so far the rain hitting the ground, splitting etc and a simple dripping mechanism. My current problem is that I am not sure how to turn these particles into polygon mesh. Right now all I have is a POPNET of the simulation. My question is, what is the best method to turn these particles into 3d geometry? Also is there a specific workflow for making rain particles look like rain? For example, how can I have just the rain particles that are falling down more cylindrical/liney like falling rain looks? Thanks for reading, any help would be greatly appreciated. Edited March 25, 2015 by ibaniser
edward
Find the DOP Import SOP that's taking your particle simulation back into geometry land. Append a VDB From Particle Fluid SOP and follow that by a Convert VDB SOP. Alternatively, you can also use the old Particle Fluid SOP.

ibaniser
Thanks very much guys. I've got it working. Thought I don't know in the long run if meshing rain is even a good idea. I want to utilize it for an animation, but it might bog the whole scene down.
